en·a·bler
iˈnāblər,e-/
noun
- a person or thing that makes something possible.
For some reason, an enabler is always seen as a negative person who supports bad behavior. But an enabler can also be positive. Everyone is put into our lives for a reason.
- Look at your list of fears and prioritize them.
- Now think about the people in your life and put them into two categories:
- The people who help to promote/prolong the fear (Negative Enablers)
- The people who can help you get over your fear (Positive Enablers)
- For the Negative Enablers, let them know that the buck stops here. Be specific and tell them that you don't want to hear their negativity anymore regarding your fear.
- For the Positive Enablers, ask for help.
Fears, once confronted, aren't so bad.
